Margot & Alex are British couple based in Canada, from where they run their online shop UKUSCA Doggie. They sell dogs’ accessories and apparel to customers mainly in USA.
Despite being online for over 3 years, their website was in poor state after last re-design. Banner images were distorted and had uninspiring text on top. Homepage had uneven layout with few small images clustered in the corner.
Extra pages also lacked visual appeal and product page had ‘Add to Cart’ button hidden down the page. On top of that a charity donation form was taking a lot of space, which was shifting attention from buying and affecting conversion.
To improve their store, Margot reached out to Ecommerce experts at Rock Paper Copy for help.
Design & SEO
We began the project by designing two images for a sliding banner – one promoting UKUSCA bestselling products and the other informing of the store’s unique selling point - supporting local pet charities with 10% off of every order.
Welcome area on a homepage was optimized with SEO friendly H tags and featured products underneath were prominently displayed, showing full array of items available.
We improved the layout on all extra pages, by making the text wrap around images and videos and adding H tags and paragraph breaks to enhance readability.
One of UKUSCA drop-down pages in main menu was disabled on mobile devices, therefore we improved the settings and featured it within the top navigation.
We also optimized the product page by removing the bulky charity giving form and placing it on a checkout page. Add to cart button together with variants and quantity box were lifted up the page and above the fold.
This would significantly boost the conversion and make visitors focus all their attention on purchase and not on other features.
Margot & Alex were delighted with the project and noticed that orders started rolling in within few hours from the first re-design stage. After months of no orders at all this was a huge relief!
