Matthew from Eco Friendly Spot is a busy dad of two kids. He is passionate about eco-friendly organic products and green lifestyle.
He has set up a Shopify store in January 2016 and spent 3 months designing it himself. Without a prior experience in ecommerce, he found it challenging.
The website had mixed branding; the teal color banners, huge image of a smoking incense stick and photos of bodybuilders underneath, reflected anything but an organic shop.
The homepage was busy with multiple promos - featured products, top collections, latest blog posts and Instagram feed. It was simply information overload.
Matthew, wanting to simplify the design and emphasize his organic branding, contacted Ecommerce experts Rock Paper Copy for help.
Branding and CTA
We began the project by updating the website colors to eco green.
The banner image we designed had organic branding and a strong CTA (call to action) to signal customers what to expect in store and where to click to start shopping.
The categories, along the blog and empty Instagram feed were replaced with a single block of featured products, showing selection of items on offer – fair trade cosmetics and home ware.
This simplified the layout and focused on one CTA - purchase.
Footer has also received stronger navigation and simplified newsletter sign up form.
Content and SEO
Matthew had great About us page, and we re-styled it and added more SEO friendly content to improve the information and link keywords within text to other parts of the store.
Stronger CTA as well as USP were featured, prompting readers to visit certain collections and benefit from FREE shipping.
Delivery and returns page received simple rates table at the top, scannable text with SEO friendly H tags and hyperlinks.
Returns policy received detailed wording, building trust and authority. All pages were optimized with meta title and descriptions, boosting their presence in Google SERP (Search Engines’ Results Page).
The whole project took less than 48 hours to implement and afterwards Matthew emailed us to say he was “seriously impressed with the work”. It was a pleasure!
