Having recently run a number of FREE website critiques, I have noticed a growing trend. Many online stores tend to hide their contact details – or perhaps hide is not an accurate expression. Not displaying their contact details would be more fitting. I’m not sure if that’s on purpose, but it seems to be a standard practice.
Build authority and trust
From the customer perspective, it’s not doing you, as a shop owner, any favors. You should be more accessible not less. If customers cannot contact you through your site, where should they go?
You should make contacting you as straightforward as you can. If you hide your contact details, customers might think: maybe they are hiding so I can’t contact them once something goes wrong. That’s the impression your customers might get.
Get professional email account
Having a professional business email doesn’t need to cost the earth these days, few £ a year maximum. Your domain registrar will usually offer that as an add-on. And yes, it’s way better to use a professional email instead of free gmail or yahoo account.
If you cannot be accessible via phone – or like me – you work remotely, be sure to use free calling apps like Skype or FaceTime to connect with customers.
Alternatively you can outsource phone services from professional calling centers doing it for other businesses. That is the best option for larger organizations wanting to have a professional sounding representative at the end of the line.
